Information about the Registered Office
The registered office of a limited
company is declared at Companies House on the public register.
This is the address that most of the official government organisations
will send their mail to. It should be an actual address, not a
post office box. The address must be an effective address as important
company documents will always be delivered to the registered office.
If these documents are not received it can lead to penalties being
levied against the company and could lead to action being taken
by Companies House to strike the company from the register.
It is a legal requirement for limited companies to display the
company name outside the registered office. This can be done using
a traditional brass name plate, a business sign, a sicky label
or any other method as long as the name can be seen.
A company registered in England and Wales must maintain a registered
office in either England or Wales. Likewise a company registered
in Scotland must maintain a registered office in Scotland.
